HAIRDRYER DESIGN

For this project I was tasked with designing a hair drying product for individuals with impaired mobility. This would mean the user at no point should be holding the dryer whilst also still performing the function of drying the users, proving to be a exciting and challenging experience as the designer. This task focussed on UX design and involved extensive user research in the ideation phase of the process to fully understand the target population.

Engineer drawing
2024

  • This image shows an engineer drawing of the hairdryer. The exploded view shows components on the inside such as the heating coil and fan as well as the location bosses.

CAD model
2024

  • This image shows the CAD model I created using solid works. Here the control panel along the side of the body can be seen with simple controls. This was purposely kept simple to fit the demographic of its target population, primarily elderly people who may have issues interpreting complex designs.

Render exploded view
2024

  • This image shows the exploded view of the hairdryer once rendered. I chose to give it a monochrome theme to give a sophisticated look. In addition to this the drying ring having a transparent top to add something more unique to the aesthetic.
